Remembering Pat Summitt: Once again, with feeling
Tucked away in a box somewhere in my basement is a thank you note I once got from Tennessee coaching legend Pat Summitt. She was, quite simply, a remarkable human being.

In the late 1980s, I began my journalism career in Evanston, Ill., pounding out newspaper stories on a typewriter. Now I write, edit, blog, pitch and post. But in all my years as a journalist, I’ve learned that even though the methods and mediums of storytelling have changed, the basics haven’t: A few good words and a whole lot of heart.
